The Roofing Warranty Certificate is an essential document that provides homeowners with peace of mind regarding their roof installation. This certificate, issued by MCS Roofing, outlines the key benefits and terms associated with the warranty, ensuring that the homeowner understands their rights and responsibilities. One of the standout features is the lifetime craftsmanship coverage, which guarantees that the roof will remain leak-free due to substandard installation for a period of 50 years from the warranty issue date. Additionally, the warranty is transferable, allowing future homeowners to benefit from the same protection, provided the necessary paperwork is completed. However, it is crucial to note that the warranty becomes effective only after the roof installation is fully paid for, and it excludes damages caused by factors such as natural disasters or structural issues. Homeowners are required to maintain the roof by cleaning it every two years, and they must promptly report any issues to MCS Roofing to keep the warranty valid. Understanding these aspects can help homeowners make informed decisions and ensure they are adequately protected against potential roofing issues.

Dos and Don'ts

When filling out the Roofing Warranty Certificate form, it is important to follow certain guidelines to ensure that your warranty is valid and effective. Below is a list of things you should and shouldn't do:

  • Do fill in all required fields completely and accurately.
  • Do ensure that the warranty issue date is clearly marked.
  • Do provide the correct project address to avoid any confusion.
  • Do keep a copy of the completed form for your records.
  • Do notify MCS Roofing promptly if any issues arise with the roof.
  • Don't submit the form until all payments for materials and labor are made in full.
  • Don't alter or tamper with the roof after installation, as this may void the warranty.
  • Don't ignore the requirement for biannual roof cleaning by MCS Roofing.
  • Don't assume that damages caused by natural disasters are covered under the warranty.

Misconceptions

1. A roofing warranty guarantees no leaks for life. Many believe that a warranty covers all potential leaks indefinitely. In reality, it only covers leaks caused by substandard installation for a specified period, typically 50 years.

2. Warranties are automatically transferable. While the warranty is 100% transferable, it requires a written request signed by the original homeowner. This step is often overlooked.

3. The warranty is effective immediately after purchase. This is a common misconception. The warranty only takes effect once the roof installation is completed and all payments are made in full.

4. All damages to the roof are covered. Not true. The warranty excludes damages from defective materials, natural disasters, and structural issues unrelated to the installation.

5. Homeowners can perform their own roof cleaning. The warranty mandates that roof cleaning must be done by MCS Roofing. Failing to comply will void the warranty.

6. MCS Roofing is responsible for all repairs. If repairs are needed due to issues not related to MCS Roofing's workmanship, the homeowner will incur charges. This aspect is often misunderstood.

7. There are no costs associated with the warranty. Homeowners should be aware that there may be additional costs, such as cleaning fees, which must be paid at the time of service.

8. Warranty coverage is comprehensive. The warranty has specific exclusions, including damages from natural disasters and alterations made to the roof. Homeowners should review these exclusions carefully.
